About the Author

Derek Prince (1915–2003) was born in Bangalore, India, into a British military family. He was educated as a scholar of classical languages at Eton College and Cambridge University in England and later at Hebrew University, Israel. As a student, he was a philosopher and self-proclaimed agnostic. While in the British Medical Corps during World War II, Prince began to study the Bible as a philosophical work. Converted through a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit a few days later. This life-changing experience altered the whole course of his life, which he thereafter devoted to studying and teaching the Bible as the Word of God. Internationally recognized as a Bible scholar and spiritual patriarch, Derek Prince taught and ministered on six continents for more than sixty years. Until a few years before his death at the age of 88, he traveled the world, imparting God’s revealed truth, praying for the sick and afflicted, and sharing his prophetic insights into world events in the light of Scripture. He is the author of over eighty books, six hundred audio teachings, and one hundred video teachings, many of which have been translated and published in more than one hundred languages. He pioneered teaching on such groundbreaking themes as generational curses, the biblical significance of Israel, and demonology. Derek Prince Ministries, with its international headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, continues to distribute his teachings and to train missionaries, church leaders, and congregations through its worldwide national offices. It is estimated that Derek Prince’s messages have reached more than half the globe through his books, CDs, and daily radio program, which is now known as Derek Prince Legacy Radio. This is one of the best books that I have read in a while! Once I started reading it, I could not put it down! While I've always had a pretty broad understanding of the 9 Spiritual Gifts, I never had a closer, deeper spiritual understanding until I read this book. The author breaks it down in a fashion that enlightens one's mind, and leaves no stone unturned. One of my favorite lines that blew me away was: "A person's character does not determine his gift, and his gift does not reflect his character." Blew me away!Please, if you're considering, go ahead and purchase this book. It's very thorough. I'd recommend this book to anyone ready to go deeper into their spirituality.

I LOVE Derek Prince and appreciate his sound doctrine. I trust his teaching and am glad I discovered his work after completing his Self-Study Bible Course (wonderful study!) After being totally confused on the gifts of the Spirit I finally have some much needed clarification. Also helps one to discern the counterfeit - a really frightening and confusing thing to encounter. Highly recommend!

I am seeking to be more in tune with our Great Creator of Heaven, heaven's and this world. I seek this through the power of the Holy Spirit. I am born again and have been studying Gods Great and Holy Word for 12 years. I highly recommend this book to believers who want to go deeper in their spiritual walk with our loving,compassionate Creator. This book is so rich with knowledge of the Gifts of the Spirit, that will have to go back and takes notes and meditate on it to fully understand my gifts from The Holy Spirit. Our Great King, The Master of my life Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit to be our Advocate, Comforter and Teacher and it is through Him we are reconciled back to Abba Father Creator of the Universe and it is through the Power of the Holy Spirit to truly know Him. What a wonderful collection of apparativos! The book of the summer has lead me to a collect and try as many as is humanly possible. See what a delicious collection the authors have lead me to create! Almost all of the drinks are easily made (with a few hard-to-find ingredients notwithstanding), incredibly tasty, very low alcohol and fairly low calorie - they pack a refreshing punch at lunch and through the afternoon and evening. My favorite uses one of the oldest (possibly, the oldest) apparativo Salers - made with Gentian root, it is outstanding when pared with cucumber, salt, white vermouth, lime, and soda/seltzer. Only 3/4 oz of Salers and 3/4 oz of vermouth make for a delicious adult refresher on a hot day.

I am not much of a drinker, in all honesty. For me, a nice cocktail is more theory than reality. I like a drink that is not sweet, not high alcohol, a bit fruity, a bit celebratory, even on an ordinary day. Spritzes totally fill the bill, and this book really delivers on drinks that are light, refreshing, unique, and interesting. My favorite thus far is the Taracco Spritz, which has become our spring house drink. Cheers!

This is a great, compact, well-designed book. In addition to cocktails there are a bunch of recipes for Italian aperitivos (little bar snacks, similar to tapas). Just got this book the other day, but I've already gone to the liquor store so I can try some of the more interesting cocktail recipes. Also really like how the book describes the spritz/aperitif sub-cultures of northern Italy. If/when I make it back I'm definitely using this book as a guideLooking forward to warmer weather so I can throw a spritz-inspired party.

This is the cutest coffee table book. My signature drink at my wedding was an Aperol Spritz so when I saw this book at Antropologie, I knew I needed it for my new apartment. I checked Amazon and the price here was way better than Anthropologie's (no surprise there).Aesthetically, the book's quality is way better than I expected. The cover has a cool matte vintage-like texture, as do the pages, which are very thick and sturdy. The photos are absolutely gorgeous- they're art-print quality and I would pull them out and frame them if I didn't love the book itself so much. There is also a cool mix of mid century modern style illustrations in a warm, somewhat masculine palette of colors.The writing is simple and the stories interesting. The recipes are the perfect mix of classic, modern, and DIY. It may not be a book I turn to often for recipes except occasionally in advance of a dinner party, but it's one I'm so happy to have in my collection and love leafing through when I notice it on my side table.

It would’ve been nice to get some more history or at least some better explanations of the flavor profiles on each amaro used. The kindle version isn’t great at all. Each recipe is in two different places for some reason. Over all a d cent read to get some recipe ideas, but we all know that’s easy to get online. Wished for more substance.

Great book - very informative and enjoyable. I only wish that we could get all the fantastic liquors that are mentioned in the recipes. They aren't all available in MA that I've been able to find.

I'm a fan of the Aperol Spritz and am happy to have this engaging history of the drink as well as so many new inventive recipes for variations on the spritz theme, as well as a few aperitivo food recipes to go along with it.

Fun to read, fun to make...all recipes are easy to understand although I maybe not be able to get the same booze for some of them, but heck, I improvise....no problem.

Regan Reilly heads to her tenth reunion at Quiltier, an all women’s college in western Massachusetts, she expects to spend the weekend reconnecting with old friends, reminiscing, and ducking the director of development. But not far from Quiltier Regan impulsively gets off the highway to stop at a diner owned by a couple she was friendly with in her college days, only to find Dot and Don bound and gagged in the basement, their cash register cleaned out. Regan helps police investigate the crime scene and promises a furious Dot, who won’t rest until “that miserable creep” is apprehended, that she will stay on the case.

That evening, two 102-year-old Quiltier alums, aggravated that they were assigned rooms in the infirmary on their eightieth reunion weekend, slip out of the building. The Director of Development, who’d been making the rounds of the class dinners in a last ditch effort for donations, becomes increasingly alarmed as the hour grows later and the women have yet to return. At 11:30 p.m. Regan meets the college president and the campus police who decide to ring the college bells, rouse the returning alums out of bed, and send them out in search parties across campus and the sleepy town.

And then there’s the question of who from Regan’s class gave an anonymous $1 million dollar donation. Where did she get the money? Why does she want it to be used to buy new mattresses? When is she going to hand over the check?

So much for a quiet reunion.

The quirky colorful personalities who work at the college and the local television station, as well as the Quiltier grads and others who somehow find their way to campus, keep readers turning the pages of this fast-paced and fun mystery.
